The readmission occurred in October last year after the woman had a tooth extracted at Folktandvården in Västra Götaland.

A few days later, she returned to the clinic with a swollen jaw, breathing difficulties and pain over the chest and was sent to the hospital where she was considered to need intensive care. She remained there for over a month.

The woman is said to have become partially paralyzed and was then cared for at a nursing home. A couple of months later, she died.

Folktandvården has now made a Lex Maria report to the Inspectorate for Health and Care (Ivo).

In the report, it was noted, among other things, that her condition was misjudged during the first dental care visit and that the guidelines they have for antibiotic use were not followed.
