The Left Party has been under pressure from several directions this autumn – not least due to former V-politician Kristofer Lundberg's statement about supporting the terror-listed PFLP (People's Front for the Liberation of Palestine). He has since been expelled.
The party has also been banned from memorial ceremonies by the Jewish Central Council after representatives of the party expressed themselves in an anti-Semitic manner.
Morgan Johansson thinks it is important that the Left Party takes action on the issue.
We have seen some examples of anti-Semitic expressions from individual members, and then it is important that the party leadership takes action as soon as possible, he says and continues:
I can state that so far the Left Party has acted. I might have seen it happen faster, but I suppose they have learned something during this process.
S: Same demands
In a parliamentary debate about the Middle East on Friday, Morgan Johansson said that if such anti-Semitic tendencies are discovered within the Social Democrats, "we will remove them immediately."
The Left Party must also do so, like other parties, such as the Sweden Democrats. One should set the same demands on the Sweden Democrats as one does on the Left Party, so as soon as there are any anti-Semitic tendencies, one should remove them.
He says that so far, the statements do not affect the cooperation between S and V.
No, as long as one acts against this, it does not affect the cooperation with us, but it requires that one does so.
Does not want to review
The Green Party's foreign policy spokesperson Jacob Risberg does not want to comment on V.
I prefer not to review the Left Party. I have understood that there are problems and that they are handling the problems. But I do not like to go in and criticize how different representatives have acted in these issues.
The Centre Party leader Muharrem Demirok has previously told Expressen that he cannot see how any responsible party would be able to cooperate with the Left Party in a government when such expressions of opinion are given.
