The industrial conglomerate Alfa Laval reports a significant increase in order intake, but sees a declining demand ahead, according to a quarterly report.
Alfa Laval reports an adjusted operating profit of 2.8 billion kronor for the third quarter of the year. This can be compared to the profit of 2.6 billion during the corresponding quarter a year earlier.
The order intake increased by 15 percent to 18.9 billion, from 17.0 billion, during the quarter. Net sales increased by 6 percent to 16.2 billion, from 15.8 billion.
The result was in line with expectations, while the order intake was slightly higher than expected. The sales, however, were below the average forecast among analysts, according to Bloomberg's compilation of forecasts.
"We expect the demand in the fourth quarter to be at a lower level compared to the third quarter", writes Alfa Laval about the outlook ahead.
