A "cultural creator" receives this year's Nagler Prize of 100,000 kronor. Madeleine Grive is praised for her ability to highlight "unique and young authorships from around the world" and build bridges with the help of literature.
The Nagler Prize, which was established two years ago by Monica and Gerald Nagler in collaboration with Swedish PEN, is awarded to a person who promotes translated literature. Madeleine Grive founded the magazine 80-tal, which has since changed its name every decade and is now called 20-tal. She has also founded the Stockholm International Poetry Festival.
Madeleine Grive says in a press release that she is "extremely honored" to receive the prize: "Introducing innovative literature from different parts of the world and presenting it to a Swedish audience is my delightful calling: Look, here's something new and exciting!"
