The parents, the group's leader, and several other individuals were convicted in January for manslaughter at a court in Brisbane. On Wednesday, the sentences were announced: both parents were sentenced to 14 years in prison and the sect leader to 13 years.
The remaining eleven sect members were sentenced to between six and nine years in prison for encouraging the child's father not to give her insulin.
