Scania's Folk Movements Launch New Daily Newspaper

Skåne's Folk Newspaper will be the name of a new daily newspaper for subscribers that is now being launched in Skåne. Behind the initiative stands the association Folk Movement Media in Skåne, which in turn has been formed by nine Scanian trade unions.

Skåne's Folkblad will have daily digital news reporting from all of Skåne and publish an in-depth paper newspaper once a month. The editorial page will be independent social democratic.

Today, in principle, all local newspapers in Skåne are owned by Bonniers and they also have bourgeois editorial pages, emphasizes Daniel Färm, CEO of Skåne's Folkblad in a press release.

"The lack of media diversity in Skåne is not Bonniers' fault. It is we within the popular movements who have failed to take the initiative. Until now. Social development needs to be reflected from different perspectives. We want to contribute to more voices being heard", says Daniel Färm.

Skåne's Folkblad premieres on March 31, both digitally and in print. Anders Malmström becomes editor-in-chief.
