The series, which is a direct sequel to "Sex and the City", will not get another season.
"And just like that... the story in the 'Sex and the City' universe is coming to an end," writes Michael Patrick King in a statement on Instagram. "When I wrote the last episode of season three, it became clear that this could be a good place to put a period."
The series finale consists of two parts and the season has been extended from ten to twelve episodes. The decision to put a period was made in consultation with the lead actress Sarah Jessica Parker and HBO's management, writes Variety. The decision has been kept secret until now so as not to affect the audience's experience during the season.
"And just like that" premiered in 2021 and reunited three of the original lead roles: Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones, chose not to participate.
The original series "Sex and the City" was broadcast between 1998 and 2004 and was followed by two films as well as the prequel series "The Carrie Diaries" (2013-2014).
