The trial of American Wall Street Journal journalist Evan Gershkovich is set to begin on 26 June in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg, the court has announced.

The trial will be held behind closed doors.

Evan Gershkovich was arrested in March 2023 and has been held in Lefortovo prison in Moscow. He is accused of working for the CIA and gathering "secret information". Both he and his employer have denied the allegations.

If found guilty, Gershkovich faces 20 years in prison.
