The European Parliament's hearings of the nominees for the next EU Commission will be held on November 4-12.
"With a mandate from European citizens, EU Parliament members will ask, assess, scrutinize, and vote. This is European democracy," writes Speaker Roberta Metsola, since the parliament's group leaders agreed on the schedule on Wednesday afternoon.
The fact that Swedish Jessika Roswall and the other commissioners are being questioned so late means that the next commission can take office at the earliest from December 1. The exact order of the hearings has not yet been published. Roswall is proposed to be responsible for the environment and water resilience.
