Under just over three months, KPMG has audited the introduction of the journal system Millennium. They have gone through over 2,300 documents and conducted interviews with more than 70 people from different parts of the Västra Götaland region.
Among other things, KPMG points out that the conditions for implementing the system were not in place, that the training was inadequate, and also that there was "lack of governance and coordination" between the American supplier Oracle and the Västra Götaland region. They also write in their audit that there have been "cultural and linguistic barriers".
The Liberals want to scrap Millennium for good, at least in primary care and among private providers.
"Everything suggests that the system cannot be implemented in these operations," says regional councilor Pär Lundqvist (L) in a press release.
Millennium was supposed to facilitate healthcare in Västra Götaland. Instead, the introduction failed from the start and was stopped in November due to technical problems and massive protests from staff.
Among other things, employees at Södra Älvsborgs hospital in Borås reported that words like "nothing" and "none" disappeared from radiology responses in the new system. At the same time, a healthcare center in Kinna switched to paper and pen instead of working in Millennium.
In February, the introduction of Millennium was formally paused indefinitely.
