Due to the Swedish Olympic Committee's selection rules, there was no Paris trip for Leo Magnusson.

But now, as the season is nearing its end, the 26-year-old improved his personal best by five seconds – to 8:13.08 – at competitions in Zagreb. He came fourth in the race and the time makes the Sävedalen runner third in Sweden all-time. Only Anders Gärderud and Mustafa Mohammed have run faster.

The time is also the second fastest in Europe this year, and the 19th in the world.

Discus thrower Vanessa Kamga came fifth in the Olympic Games. With almost the same starting field as in the Olympic final, the Swede managed to take a fourth place with 63.30.

Olympic gold medalist Valarie Allman, USA, won with 67.83 and Olympic bronze medalist Sandra Ekasevic, Croatia, came second with 67.12 in the strong starting field.
