After always being a bit sluggish during the summer, the housing market is starting to pick up speed. Hemnet is seeing more ads in the past week.
The supply of housing has been large for a longer period and this is particularly evident among one-bedroom apartments.
Last week, a total of 5,479 one-bedroom apartments were for sale on Hemnet – a record level. This is an increase of 36 percent compared to the same week last year, and the trend is the same across the country.
According to Hemnet's market analyst Erik Holmberg, one-bedroom apartments have been most affected by the rising interest rates in recent years.
"The fact that it is primarily the market for smaller apartments that has been affected is because those who demand smaller apartments are often single borrowers. They are generally also younger, which means they have lower incomes and less often have profits from previous housing sales to fall back on," he says in a press release.
