Residents in Arizona, USA, are accustomed to heat, living in a state characterized by a desert climate. But cities like Phoenix, Tucson, and Flagstaff are now experiencing a new record – 100 days in a row where the thermometer has shown at least 100 degrees Fahrenheit. This corresponds to almost 38 degrees Celsius.

The previous record was 76 days in a row, in 1993, with those degrees, according to Arizona Republic.

Forecasts for the near future indicate that there will be significantly more days than 100 in a row this year.

The chief meteorologist at the NWS weather office in Phoenix, Sean Benedict, says that the summer appears to have been the warmest, or hottest, since temperatures began to be measured.

In several places around Arizona, records have been set, says Benedict to the newspaper.
