The police have established this after completing their investigation, according to media reports from news agency STT and local newspaper Kaleva.
On June 19, an adult man of Asian origin was stabbed from behind. A 15-year-old boy was arrested and later confessed to the crime during questioning.
The preliminary investigation has now revealed, among other things, that the knife used had a swastika motif and that the perpetrator wore a shirt with Nazi messages in German.
The stabbing was the second to occur in the shopping center in less than a week. A few days earlier, a 30-year-old man with a well-documented background in Nazi organizations had stabbed a 12-year-old boy. He attacked children in the shopping center because of their foreign background, the police have previously established, and charges are pending for two attempted murders.
The attacks took place in the same part of the shopping center, but the suspected boy has said in questioning that it was not about copying the previous crime.
It may be that it had some influence, but it cannot be said to be entirely copied from that, says preliminary investigation leader Janne Koskela to STT.
It has been clear since before that the suspects – both the teenager and the older Nazi – will undergo forensic psychiatric examinations before a trial can take place.
