Currently, 58 percent of the population have confidence in Zelenskyj, according to a survey from Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS). This can be compared to 65 percent in the previous measurement in June.

In parallel, the proportion of Ukrainians who say they lack confidence in the president has increased from 30 to 35 percent, reports the newspaper The Kyiv Independent.

The survey is based on telephone interviews with 1,022 adults in Ukraine-controlled areas in the war-torn country. They began on July 23, the day after Zelenskyj backtracked and reinstated the independence of the country's anti-corruption agency. This happened after harsh criticism and large popular protests against a law that placed them under the control of the prosecutor general.

Around 6 percent of those surveyed say that the debacle surrounding the anti-corruption agency is the direct reason why their confidence in the president has decreased.

Immediately after Russia's war of aggression began in February 2022, confidence in Zelenskyj was at 90 percent. Since then, it has fluctuated between approximately 52 and 79 percent, according to KIIS.
