The e-commerce giant is one of the major players when it comes to one of the year's biggest shopping periods, but employees in several countries do not think that the company's employment terms reflect its successes.

Under the slogan "Make Amazon Pay", employees at Amazon in 20 different countries have planned or already carried out protest and strike actions. According to The Guardian, this concerns employees in, among others, the USA, the UK, Germany, Japan, India, and Brazil.

Here in the UK, Amazon represents everything that is broken in our economy. Insecure employment, poverty wages, and insecure working conditions, says a representative of the protests in the UK to The Guardian.

A spokesperson for Amazon says to the newspaper:

"These groups represent different interests, and although we are always receptive and open to improving ourselves, we are proud of the competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and giving and secure jobs that we offer our employees."

In Sweden, Amazon has, among other things, warehouse facilities in Eskilstuna.
