The County Administrative Board in Gävleborg has decided on protective hunting of wolves in Bollnäs municipality, writes the authority in a press release.
This week, three wolf attacks on sheep have occurred near each other, which forms the basis for the County Administrative Board's decision. The protective hunting, which applies to a wolf in a delimited area near Hällbo and Kilafors in Hälsingland, may be carried out at the latest until 5 July.
According to the County Administrative Board, the protective hunting is directed against a specific wolf that is deemed to have attacked the sheep.
"The County Administrative Board assesses that, apart from protective hunting, there are no other suitable solutions to prevent further attacks on domestic animals in the area," the authority writes, among other things.
