The 45-year-old Gothenburger is sentenced for several different crimes, but they all have a connection to a lifestyle that seems to have been about having a completely black economy, writes Hem & Hyra.
According to the indictment, the 45-year-old barely lived in the apartment himself, but instead rented it out via Airbnb, primarily to tourists. He also took out a daily rent that was five times higher than what he himself paid. According to his tax returns, the man earned zero kronor or just slightly above that during the relevant years 2018-2020.
The man is sentenced for gross accounting fraud regarding the apartment rental. He is also sentenced for violating the Land Code, which prohibits unauthorized subletting and usury. So far, only a few individuals have been prosecuted for violating the Land Code, and the penalty has been limited to fines.
