The sentence of 12 years in prison in the district court is thus reduced by two months.
A boy who was 15 years old at the time of the murders is also convicted of giving the shooter the assignment to carry out the murders. He is sentenced to prison for nine years and ten months, also two months less than in the district court.
The prison sentences are, as far as is known, the longest that have been handed out to persons of that age in Sweden. The fact that they are reduced by two months is due to the fact that they have been detained with restrictions for a long time, writes the Svea Court of Appeal in a press release.
Total Indifference
"It has been a matter of exceptionally serious crimes, characterized by total indifference to other people's lives. The crimes have been so serious that the 15-year-old instigator of the crimes and the 16-year-old shooter, despite their young age, are sentenced to long prison sentences", says the presiding judge, Court of Appeal Judge Kerstin Elserth.
A girl, who was 15 years old at the time of the murders, is sentenced to closed youth care for two years for aiding and abetting the shootings.
At the same time, the Court of Appeal acquits a 22-year-old man who was convicted in the district court for aiding and abetting the shootings and aiding and abetting aggravated arson. The prosecutors have, according to the Court of Appeal, not shown that the man, who was sentenced to 16 years in prison in the district court, had intent to commit the crimes.
Broke In
It was on October 12, 2023, that the then 16-year-old boy broke into a villa in Västberga in southern Stockholm through a balcony door. There, he shot and killed a 40-year-old father of small children before going upstairs and aiming the weapon at the man's wife, who was holding their two-year-old daughter in her arms.
After ordering her to turn around, he shot her with two shots in the back. She survived but was severely injured. One of the shots hit the daughter, who was lightly injured. In an adjacent room, the couple's other daughter was sleeping.
The following evening, the boy took the same approach and broke into a villa in Tullinge south of Stockholm, where he shot and killed two women, aged 20 and 60, respectively. Another woman and three children were in the house.
The boy was arrested shortly afterwards on his way from the crime scene in a taxi.
The murders in Västberga and Tullinge are linked to the internal conflict that broke out in the Foxtrot network last autumn. However, those who were killed had nothing to do with the matter.
