Poland's central bank leaves the interest rate unchanged at 5.75 percent. The announcement was expected and follows eight interest rate meetings in a row without adjustments to the interest rate.
Poland is one of the countries that have been hardest hit by the inflation and interest rate shock in 2022-2023. Last year, inflation in the country was up to 18.4 percent.
However, in June this year, Polish inflation had fallen back to 2.6 percent, which is within the inflation target range of 1.5-3.5 percent.
The Polish currency, the zloty, has, like the Swedish krona, taken a beating on the currency market in 2022-2023, with a low point of nearly five zloty per euro early in 2022. The zloty has, however, approached more normal levels this year and is now hovering around 4.30 zloty per euro.
