A police officer is sentenced to day-fines for two cases of misconduct in two separate interventions – on the same day, reports Upsala Nya Tidning. The events took place in Uppsala in April last year.

In the first incident, a discussion arose when a man thought that a police car was blocking traffic. The situation escalated and the now convicted police officer pulled the man down to the ground and handcuffed him.

I've become withdrawn, I don't feel like the same person anymore, said the affected man to SVT Uppsala earlier this year.

In the second case, the police officer is said to have pressed down a suspected drug-intoxicated man so hard that he gasped for air.

The police officer is to pay 17,800 and 15,000 kronor in damages to the affected men.

The verdict can be appealed until October 1. The police's disciplinary board has stated that the police officer, who denies the crime, may lose their job if the conviction is upheld.
