The EU's five heaviest countries are all in favor of common defense obligations in the EU to strengthen the defense industry.
This is claimed by Poland's Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski after a meeting in Poland.
I believe this is the first time ... that the five largest countries in the EU jointly step forward with support for European defense obligations. It's a big thing, says Sikorski according to the news agency AFP.
The talks involved foreign ministers from France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, as well as non-EU country the United Kingdom.
Poland has taken several initiatives in recent weeks to strengthen European unity around continued support for Ukraine.
