"Play Shoreline"-stone in Gothenburg has lost its golden plaque, reports P4 Gothenburg. The stone is a tribute to the band Broder Daniel and their biggest hit.
It is still unclear who stole the plaque, but the municipality promises to replace it with a new one.
"Always just as boring when things can't be left in peace. We will put up a new 'Play Shoreline' sign this week", writes Per Åberg, strategic administrator for Slottsskogen at the city planning administration, in an email to GP.
Broder Daniel performed the song "Shoreline" in "Sen kväll med Luuk" in 2001 and it had an immediate success. However, since it was not released on CD until two years later, fans started showing up at clubs with the DJ's request "Play Shoreline". It soon became a phenomenon to write this on signs and take them to Broder Daniel concerts, and soon also to other concerts.
The plaque on the stone was put up by two anonymous artists as a tribute to the indie band. After several tours, it has stood in Slottsskogen in Gothenburg since 2019, but the plaque is now stolen.
