A passenger train has derailed near the metropolis of Volgograd in Russia.
"Eight carriages derailed in the Volgograd region", a source tells the regime-loyal news agency Interfax.
According to preliminary information, the train driver activated the emergency brake due to a truck driving onto the tracks at a crossing. Approximately 1,000 passengers are said to be on the train. The rescue service is on the scene, writes Interfax.
