The former "Baywatch" star plays Shelly, a soon-to-be 60-year-old showgirl who dances at a club in Las Vegas – a club that is about to be shut down. Shelly also has problems with her daughter, with whom she has poor contact.

I don't think I could have done this role if I hadn't had the life I've had to draw experiences from. I can relate in so many ways, there are so many parallels, says Pamela Anderson.

At the same time, she emphasizes that Shelly is not her – but a character she felt she could shape.

I've always felt that I could do more than what I've done before, and this was a wonderful opportunity to show what I'm made of, she says and continues:

I'm proud to have been a part of pop culture, but being known for a red swimsuit was limiting.

"A tumultuous relationship"

Would she have wished for all this to have happened earlier? No, she answers.

It would have been a waste of time, because I'm here now. If I had gotten the opportunity earlier, I wouldn't have been able to do it for my children were growing up then and if I had been in a tumultuous relationship, I wouldn't have had the same focus.

Now her children are grown up and she is free, she notes.

So I have everything to give. I'm glad I've had such an exciting life. It was colorful. It was an unconventional path to becoming an actress, and even though I'm 57, it feels like it's just beginning.

Does she regret anything? Pamela Anderson regrets not continuously taking acting lessons and focusing on acting.

Otherwise, time just flew by. Sometimes it was about survival, keeping the light on, making sure I could move on after certain things that happened.

Does not use makeup

In recent years, she has been noticed for her acclaimed stage performance in the Broadway production of the musical "Chicago", and for skipping most of the glamour and no longer using makeup – something that made headlines around the world.

It feels fun and silly, says Pamela Anderson.

I didn't do it to get attention, I did it for myself. But it has affected many women, since we get stuck in this. I wanted to jump off the crazy train. I'm the age I am and it's okay. I'm not going to chase youth, I wouldn't win.
