Blomgren has been loaned out to Almtuna in Hockeyallsvenskan this season. In January, he was called back to Malmö and before the SM playoffs, he was intended as the third goalkeeper.
But after the Czech Marek Langhamer was injured in the first quarterfinal against Rögle and Daniel Marmenlind in the first quarter against Brynäs, the 20-year-old has become the first choice.
On Monday evening, Hovåsson saved all 31 shots from Brynäs when Malmö won 2–0 and reduced the match series to 1–2 at home. The goals were scored by Axel Sundberg and Norwegian Thomas Berg-Paulsen.
First against tenth
It feels good. I get a hell of a help from everyone in the team. Then I think I have a bit of flow sometimes, says Oskar Blomgren to TV4 Play.
On Wednesday, match four in the best-of-seven series between Malmö, tenth in SHL, and series winner Brynäs awaits. That one will also be played in Skåne.
It's just about eating well, taking care of your body, and then going out and playing, says Blomgren.
Puck on the leg decided
Växjö also reduced their quarterfinal series against Luleå at home to 1–2 in matches. The Smålanders won 4–3 after a decisive goal in the middle of the fifth period, as the match had stood 3–3 after regular time.
Karl Henriksson got a shot from Emil Sylvegård on one leg and steered the puck into the goal, deciding the match.
I don't think I see much. I basically just get it on me and then it goes in, says Henriksson to TV4 Play.
The next match between Växjö and Luleå will also be played on Wednesday.
Corrected: In an earlier version of this text, the incorrect table position for Malmö in SHL was stated. The correct position is tenth.
