The descendants of Gustave Eiffel, who constructed the Eiffel Tower, are not giving up. They do not want the Olympic Games rings to be permanently placed on the 135-year-old building in Paris and have therefore contacted a lawyer to stop the plans.
The family states in a statement that they oppose any change that negatively affects the tower. Among other things, they believe that the Olympic Games rings would create a significant imbalance in the design of the tower. However, they can imagine the Olympic Games rings being allowed to remain for the rest of the year.
It is the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, who wants the Olympic Games rings to remain at least until the next Summer Olympic Games in 2028, in Los Angeles.
