The former national team captain and center back has negotiated for a while with St Louis City, but now the parties have agreed.
The only thing left for the transfer to be completely clear is for Mellberg to receive the necessary permits to work in the USA.

Current as national team captain
Mellberg has trained Brommapojkarna together with Andreas Engelmark for the past two years. Before that, he was active in Helsingborg. He started his coaching career in BP in 2016-2017.
Last winter, he was a candidate for the national team coach, as Janne Andersson's successor, a task that later went to Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Olof Mellberg belonged to clubs such as Degerfors, AIK, Racing Santander, Aston Villa, Juventus, Olympiakos, Villarreal, and FC Copenhagen during his active playing career. He played 117 national team matches.
In St Louis City, Swedes Rasmus Alm and Joakim Nilsson play.
