The Supreme Court is taking up the case regarding eleven climate activists from the organization Restore Wetlands who blocked the E4 at Solna in August 2022.
In the district court, all were convicted of sabotage, but the court of appeal changed the verdict and instead convicted them only of disobedience to the authorities. The verdict was appealed by the Prosecutor-General to the Supreme Court, which requested that the activists be convicted of sabotage due to the severity of the disturbance.
"In normal cases, 3,500-4,000 cars pass through the location during the time the blockade was carried out between 8:20 and 9:10. It was a matter of a total stop for 20 minutes and subsequently long delays," commented Prosecutor-General Katarina Johansson Welin in connection with the appeal.
On Wednesday, the Supreme Court decided to take up the case.
