It may be summer and soon the premiere of the film about the band Gyllene Tider and its front figure Per Gessle. But it is not allowed to give your child the first name Gessle, reports Smålandsposten.
A man in Växjö applied to use Gessle as one of three first names for his daughter. The Tax Agency said no and the Administrative Court agrees.
”The Administrative Court makes the same assessment as the Tax Agency that the name Gessle has such a pronounced surname character that it is unsuitable as a first name,” the court writes.
The man emphasized that the name was rooted in the family and that a relative had had it as a nickname. He also pointed out that there are only 14 people in Sweden who have it as a surname. But those arguments did not count.
