The police were alerted to the scene in the Sjöbo district at half past four on Friday morning.

People had heard bangs, says Jenny Widén, press spokesperson for the police.

The shot man was found injured and later died at the hospital.

The police have launched a murder investigation and conducted a technical examination of the crime scene. They are also mapping the deceased's social circle and talking to people who saw or heard something about the incident.

We are also working to create a sense of security, so that people can come forward to the police if they may have any information or feel anxious, says Jenny Widén.

We are aware that what has happened can create great anxiety among those living in the area, she adds.

The police are also trying to investigate whether the murder can be linked to other events in the area.

A police operation against crime linked to criminal networks in Borås has been ongoing since earlier.
