The five-year-old boy managed to escape from the HVB home in Hagfors and was later found dead in a nearby stream.
The acquittal of two employees at the home is now being confirmed.
The employees were convicted in the district court for causing another person's death after the incident in the summer of 2021, but were later acquitted in the court of appeal.
The boy's father appealed to the Supreme Court, which has now decided not to take up the case. Thus, the court of appeal's verdict stands.
The parents have also sued Falu municipality for their actions in connection with the boy's death.
The municipality was acquitted in the district court, but the case will be heard in the Svea Court of Appeal next year.
