The Ministry for Foreign Affairs (MFA) does not advise against traveling to countries due to mpox at present. In an email to TT, the MFA's press service writes: "No warning due to the risk of being infected with mpox exists at present."
However, the MFA already advises against, for example, non-essential travel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and against all travel to certain areas of the country due to the security situation.
According to the MFA, any potential warning against travel due to infectious diseases would be based on a comprehensive assessment of the overall security situation for Swedish travelers. This includes, for example, the possibility of receiving hospital care, how the local infrastructure is affected by the spread of infection, and whether it leads to extensive restrictions on movement within the country.
"The MFA may also advise against travel to countries where there is a risk of spreading infectious diseases based on a recommendation from the Public Health Agency", writes the MFA's press service.
