It was at 17.30 on Monday that the Social Democrats in the region came with the message in a press release, reports SVT Västernorrland.
"We strongly distance ourselves from all forms of hate and threats. It is nothing that belongs in a democracy. It also takes focus away from the opportunities to discuss patient safety and equal healthcare in all of Västernorrland. It is particularly serious when politically elected officials engage in such behavior, and as a result, Mattias Ahlenhed will leave his political assignments for The Social Democrats in Sollefteå", writes Susanne Lindahl in the party.
"Has reported to the police"
The background is the highly infected conflict surrounding Sollefteå hospital.
Earlier on Monday, SVT Västernorrland reported that Sollefteå's Social Democratic regional politician Roger Johansson had received a threatening email from party colleague Mattias Ahlenhed, where he is described as "a fat, ugly fascist pig – who wants to kill us in Ångermanland".
I have reported to the police, said Roger Johansson to SVT.
In the email, Ahlenhed criticized Johansson and the party's actions regarding the hospital issue.
"I will NOT apologize for the day when some old man from the northwestern parts of Sollefteå municipality gets in his car and looks you up with his moose rifle", Ahlenhed wrote in the letter.
In an SMS to SVT, Ahlenhed defended his email and wrote that he has "accounted for how people reason and how upset people are regarding what they see as murder".
He ended the message by saying that he "understands them and their fear and anger”.
Meeting in the regional council was interrupted
There has been a deep rift within The Social Democrats in the region for a long time regarding the issue of Sollefteå hospital.
Last week, a meeting in the regional council in region Västernorrland was interrupted since politicians and officials were threatened with death. At the meeting, they were to discuss the hospital's future.
