Britta Söderqvist becomes the new senior superintendent for the National Museums of World Culture – the Mediterranean Museum, the Ethnographic Museum and the East Asian Museum in Stockholm, plus the Museum of World Culture in Gothenburg.
"I am so happy for the trust" she says in a press release.
At the beginning of next year, she will leave a position as department head at the Gothenburg Museums and Art Gallery. She has also been unit manager at the National Museums of World Culture. Britta Söderqvist takes over after Ann Follin, who will move on to the position of general director for the Employers' Association.
Culture Minister Parisa Liljestrand (The Moderate Party) describes Britta Söderqvist as an experienced manager who "has driven strategic change and development work".
The National Museums of World Culture have been struggling for several years with how to reduce their local costs. Today, 40 percent of the agency's appropriation goes to premises and just as much to personnel, which makes the appropriation for the actual operations small.
