The allegations are presented in eight interviews published in New York Magazine. Four of the women had already presented their allegations last year, in Tortoise Media's podcast "Master". In total, five women told that they had been subjected to abuse by Gaiman, the author of, among others, "American Gods" and "Coraline".
According to the latest interviews, all the women had at some point played along with Gaiman's desires. However, the women claim that there was no consent regarding what they later say happened.
Gaiman's representatives have denied the allegations and claimed that everything took place with consent. They also say that "sexual humiliation, bondage, dominance, sadism, and masochism may not appeal to everyone, but between consenting adults, BDSM is legal."
Several of Gaiman's projects are now being put on hold. Disney has paused a film adaptation of "The Graveyard Book" and Netflix is not moving forward with "Dead Boy Detectives", although it is unclear whether this is due to the allegations. Gaiman is also no longer involved in Prime Video's production of "Good Omens".
However, season two of "The Sandman" is still expected to be released on Netflix this year.
