”A grotesque mockery of what it means to be human.” ”Unbelievably disturbing” and Chat GPT ”should go to hell and leave songwriting alone". Nick Cave has made himself known as a big opponent to AI.

But ahead of the 40th anniversary of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' song "Tupelo" he seems to have changed his mind. In the video for the song, AI is used to bring still images of Elvis Presley to life, reports NME.

The song is about Elvis' birth during a storm in the city of Tupelo.

According to Cave, the filmmaker Andrew Dominik used AI without his knowledge.

”When I watched Andrew's surreal little film, I felt my view on AI as an artistic tool soften" writes Nick Cave in his blog.

He says that the AI-animated photographs of Presley were ”as if he had risen from the dead".
