Mustafa Can receives the Grand Prize of the Publicist Club because he "has published reports for decades that bring radio listeners and newspaper readers close", writes Svenska Dagbladet.
Mustafa Can received the Grand Journalism Prize in 2002, among other things for his texts about the Sweden Democrats, and was awarded the Grand Radio Prize a couple of years later for his notable "Summer" program that dealt with his mother.
In recent years, his reports from war-torn Ukraine in SvD have attracted attention. Can himself could not receive his prize at the gala on Thursday evening, but sent a video greeting from a bomb shelter at the front in Ukraine.
"I want to send my thanks, with all humility", he said in the video, where he was wearing a flak jacket.
The Grand Prize of the Publicist Club was established in 1986 and is awarded to someone who has made high-class journalism over a longer period. The prize amount is 50,000 kronor. At the same time on Thursday, author and DN reporter Åsa Erlandsson also received the Golden Pen prize.
