At least ten miners have been injured and two are missing after an earthquake in a coal mine in southern Poland.
The quake occurred at a depth of 1,200 meters in the mine, which is located in the town of Rydultowy near the border with the Czech Republic. Rescue personnel worked on Thursday to bring up around ten additional miners above ground.
Coal mines are hazardous workplaces with a risk of rockfalls and methane gas explosions. The coal industry is one of Poland's largest employers, with around 75,000 employees. Last year, 15 miners died in accidents in Poland.
