Hedman was tackled, lost his helmet and hit his head on the ice. The forward then lay on the ice for almost half an hour, receiving care before being taken away in an ambulance.
Through his partner, he now speaks out for the first time since the injury. To Expressen he says:
"I get very moved and touched that so many care. It's hard to take in that this event has affected so many. I don't think I myself have understood how serious the incident was until I've received the great commitment from those around me. The love that so many have shown I will carry with me for the rest of my life."
Tingsryd has reported that Hedman suffered a severe concussion and is doing relatively well. He also needed to sew the back of his head, which was injured in connection with the landing.
The Hockey Allsvenskan match between Nybro and Tingsryd was interrupted after the injury and will be completed at a later time.
