Möregårdh eliminated in China – the world number two was too tough

In the Olympic Games, Truls Möregårdh stood for a bravura victory against Wang Chuqin, the world's number one. But this time, on Wang's home turf, the Chinese player was too strong. Truls Möregårdh fell with 0–3 in sets, and is eliminated from the WTT tournament in Chongqing.

There was no repeat of the feat in Paris where the Swede took silver in the singles tournament after having shocked the table tennis world and eliminated Wang Chuqin in the quarterfinals.

Instead, the world number two Wang, who was world number one in the Olympic Games, was completely superior and eliminated the Swedish star in three straight sets.

From the start, the Chinese player displayed brilliant play, and Möregårdh had no answer. And regardless of what the Swede tried, Wang was one step ahead.

This despite Möregårdh entering the match with high self-confidence, after having eliminated world number nine Dang Qiu in the quarterfinals in superior style.

After the match, Wang was also praised for his incredible play.

It's something of the best you've seen in a long time, oh oh oh, says SVT's expert Jan-Ove Waldner about the world number two's play.

And he had at least said the audience on his side. With every won point, a loud cheer was heard in the arena.

The Swede is thus eliminated in the quarterfinals of the World Championship tournament in Chinese Chongqing.
