In line with the increasing number of children and young people being detained, the need for teachers at the country's detention centers is increasing. The Prison and Probation Service is now going to employ more teachers and instructors, who will be able to provide pedagogical support to children and young people, reports P1 Morgon.

Due to young people being drawn into crime, the detention centers have received an increasing number of school-age children. Normally, teachers provide pedagogical support to young people up to 21 years old, but due to high pressure, the Prison and Probation Service has had to prioritize school-age children.

Three teachers and 28 pedagogical instructors will be appointed across the country, according to the Prison and Probation Service.

Today, there are nine teachers stationed at the different metropolitan detention centers in Sweden.
