Andrea Möllerberg took up the role of general secretary for the Swedish Football Association on November 1, 2023. During her time, there has been turmoil within the association, primarily concerning the change work she herself led.

On Monday, she was fired and then gave an interview to Fotbolldirekt.

I was prepared for it. I had received some background information beforehand, that a meeting would take place. I was calm and it was nice to get the message in a way – then you could relate to it. Better that than living in uncertainty. It was Fredrik Reinfeldt who called and told me about it, she says.

According to Chairman of the Board Fredrik Reinfeldt, the board was unanimous in its decision "based on a comprehensive assessment over a longer period of time related to the issue of trust".

Everything lies in the eye of the beholder. My opinion is that there are those who are critical, but there are also those who have great trust in me. It becomes so apparent on this day. It's so many who have gotten in touch – I feel even more proud than I actually thought I would, says Möllerberg.

Regarding the criticism of her leadership style, Möllerberg says it is a bit "one-sided":

I am incredibly straightforward, honest, and direct – that's me. I think it's a strength, but I also understand that other people may be used to a different kind of leadership, she says and continues:

It would be strange if I said that someone is wrong because they have felt or experienced it in a certain way. But it's a bit one-sided, I must say.
