Asia's leading stock exchanges opened Thursday trading with both gains and losses and at a lower level where investors again hope for interest rate reductions from the US central bank this year.
In Tokyo, the key Nikkei 225 index rose by 0.9% at lunchtime, while the broader Topix index increased by 0.6.
Even from Hong Kong, cheerful tones were heard when the Hang Seng index grew by 0.6.
Shanghai's composite index, however, fell by 0.1%, while the composite index in Shenzhen retreated by 0.7.
