Minister for Gender Equality Paulina Brandberg on Henrik Brandão Jönsson

It was right to throw out journalist Henrik Brandão Jönsson from the radio studio when he encouraged prostitution. This is the opinion of Minister for Gender Equality Paulina Brandberg (The Liberals), who praises the program leader's clear stance.

"If you are silent, you are taking a stand for the normalization of this, if you speak out, you are standing up for all those who are exploited in the sex industry. We need more people, like Abadi (the host of the radio program), to choose the latter alternative", writes Brandberg in a debate article in Expressen.

Certainly, "crackpot opinions" should also be allowed to be expressed publicly, even in public service, according to Brandberg.

"This should not be confused with having the right to be protected from strong counter-reactions if you express them", she writes.

It was over the weekend that Brandão Jönsson's statement about buying sex in the SR program Söndag i P4 received a lot of attention.

Several others were of the opposite opinion and reported the program to the Broadcasting Commission for "throwing out dissenting guests".
