Marius Borg Høiby, son of the Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, is not appealing the detention order against him.
The District Court in Oslo decided on Wednesday evening that the 27-year-old should be detained and held in custody for a week, with a ban on letters and visits.
The background is a number of criminal charges against Høiby, including two rapes and several cases of violence in close relationships. He has denied the rape allegations, but admitted to violence against a former girlfriend in one of the cases.
The charges against Mette-Marit's son have shaken the Norwegian royal family, which has been very restrained in its comments.
