Copenhagen's municipal leadership is fighting for sex workers' rights, for example, the opportunity to join the unemployment insurance fund.
It is double standards when society demands that sex workers pay taxes and at the same time denies them benefits that other employees have, for example, parental leave, believes Copenhagen's mayor responsible for employment and integration, Louise Theilade Thomsen (Venstre).
"In Denmark, it is legal to be a sex worker", she emphasizes in a press release and demands that the government should let the issue be investigated.
