The government has decided to classify the Marburg disease as socially dangerous. The decision was made at an extraordinary government meeting this morning.
Yesterday, the Public Health Agency submitted a request to the government to reclassify the Marburg disease from generally dangerous to socially dangerous. The government's decision is based on this.
"This disease is very serious and although we do not currently see a risk of infection spreading in Sweden, the government has today decided to classify it as socially dangerous. This gives us better tools to take extraordinary infection control measures if needed," says Minister for Social Affairs Jakob Forssmed (KD) in a press release.
