It's really slippery in Västerbotten. Norrland University Hospital in Umeå is postponing several planned operations to make room for acute fractures, reports SVT Västerbotten.

We already had a hard time fitting in planned surgery, but now we're getting all sorts of fractures pouring in. It's chaotic, says operations manager Lisbeth Brax Olofsson to SVT.

The influx began when the black ice arrived last week.

It's only getting worse and worse. I've never seen anything like it. It's ankles, wrists, hips, and elbows, it just keeps going, says Brax Olofsson.

SMHI has issued a yellow warning for sudden black ice in parts of Västernorrland's and Västerbotten's coastal areas on Friday.

It's also slippery in Stockholm, which is noticeable at the region's hospitals.

We're seeing an increased number of patients who need to be cast and operated on. The most common ones are wrists, then elbows, shoulders, and ankles, says Stefan Gantelius, operations manager for orthopedics at Danderyds Hospital.

We're busiest from December and a bit into March. Then there are always a couple of peaks when we get a bit extra to do.
