At least 30 people are feared to have died in landslides and mudslides in eastern Uganda. The remains of six people, including an infant, have been recovered in the village of Masagu, according to local officials.
However, several villages in the eastern parts of the country have been affected, according to the Red Cross. The organization's spokesperson John Cliff Wamala says that 40 homes have been completely destroyed and others partially.
Images in local media show enormous amounts of earth that have landed in the villages. The area has been hit by heavy rainfall in recent days, which has prompted disaster authorities to warn of flooding and landslides.
